The FCNL Education Fund produces several publications, including a regular newsletter and periodic reports on federal government policies which improve people’s lives. These publications offer other perspectives to ongoing civic discussions on the topics the fund covers.
The fund also uses these publications to educate and engage people to build peace, establish justice, and create a sustainable planet.
We have two publications which explore the connection between advocacy and Quaker faith and practice. In A Theological Perspective on Quaker Lobbying, Margery Post Abbott discusses the efforts of Friends across the generations to carry their concerns to the world. In Quakers: A Quick Guide, Carl Abbott explores the spiritual basis of all our work.
The success of our democracy rests on the individual actions of millions of citizen advocates who both trust and verify that our democratic institutions function. But to participate effectively, we all have to know how the system works and how to engage with members of Congress. Noted political science professor, Dr. Welling Hall, developed a curriculum designed as part of a course tied to FCNL’s Spring Lobby Weekend.
The Washington Newsletter is a publication of the FCNL Education Fund and the Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL), two national nonpartisan Quaker organizations working for peace, justice, and environmental stewardship. It is printed in six editions each year.
